MEMPHIS, TN (February 27, 2017) – PMC Biogenix, a wholly owned subsidiary of PMC Group, announced today that it has significantly expanded its production capacity for long chain fatty acid intermediates in Memphis, TN to support its recent expansions in fatty amide slip agent production.
The Memphis expansion project will increase its capacity for erucic and behenic acids by approximately 50% as well as double its output for C-20 fatty acids, and upgrades PMC’s production capabilities to the most current technologies. This expansion supports PMC’s expansion in fatty amides capacity at its Gyeongju, South Korea facility in 2016.
Erucic acid is the primary feedstock for PMC’s fatty amide slip agent product line which serves the growing polyolefins market. PMC produces a complete range of primary and secondary fatty amide slip agents in Memphis, TN and Gyeongju, South Korea for a wide range of polymers and coatings.
“The global polyolefins market relies on Kemamide® and Armoslip® slip agents for most slip and anti-torque applications,” said Dr. William Hayes, Vice President.
“Our investment in this new capacity underscores PMC’s strong global position in this segment and our commitment to supporting the growth of the global polyolefins market through expansion and continuous investment to ensure we are employing the state-of-the-art technologies,” Hayes added.
